A baby doll doesn’t technically need anything.
Children tend to disagree.
Apparently the baby is hungry. Cold. Going shopping. Late for bed. In urgent need of a wardrobe change. And expected at an extremely important appointment near the sofa.
Accessories are where one doll can start becoming a whole world.
But you don’t need everything on day one.
Start with these three
1. Something to carry them in
A carrier or sling lets the Dinkum come along while little hands remain available for other very important things.
SHOP DOLL CARRIERS2. Something to wear
One change of clothes creates a surprising amount of play.
Pyjamas for bed. Overalls for adventures. A party outfit for a party nobody else knew was happening.
SHOP DINKUM CLOTHES3. Somewhere to sleep
A bed gives doll play a natural little ending to the day.
Tuck in. Story. Kiss goodnight.
Possibly repeat this four times.

Doll clothes: the accessory that gets used most
If you only ever buy one thing, make it an outfit. Clothes get changed several times a day, survive being lost under the sofa, and cost less than almost anything else in the range.
Look for fastenings a small child can manage alone. Velcro and large poppers beat buttons by a distance at this age. Our doll clothing and accessories section is sized for Dinkums specifically.
What comes next?
Watch how they play.
Always feeding the baby? Look at care accessories.
Taking it everywhere? Perhaps a pram.
Constantly dressing it? Clothes.
Putting every toy in the house to bed? You know what to do.
What fits my Dinkum?
Dinkums come in a few different sizes, so not every accessory fits every doll. Jot down a few details before you shop and you’ll get it right first time.

What accessories does a baby doll need?
Technically, none. But a change of clothes, something to carry them in and somewhere to sleep can open up a whole world of play. Start small and see what your child enjoys.
What are the best first baby doll accessories?
A doll carrier, spare outfit and little bed are useful starting points. They encourage dressing, carrying, cuddling and familiar everyday routines.
Do all doll clothes fit every baby doll?
No. Doll clothes vary in size, shape and fastening, so use our Dinkum checklist before buying. Different Dinkum ranges may require different outfits.
What baby doll accessories are good for toddlers?
Choose age-appropriate accessories that are easy to handle, with no unsuitable small or removable parts. Simple clothes, carriers and beds can be a lovely place to begin.
Should I buy a complete doll accessory set?
Only if your child is likely to use the pieces. Sometimes one carefully chosen accessory gets far more play than a large set. Their existing play habits are a very good guide.
