How to Wrap a Plush Toy Without a Box

How to Wrap a Plush Toy Without a Box

There's something special about giving a soft toy.

Before the first cuddle, before they're carried everywhere or tucked into bed each night, there's the excitement of discovering a new little companion.

The only tricky part? Soft toys aren't the easiest shape to wrap.

Here are a few simple ways to make your gift feel just as thoughtful as what's inside.

1. A gift bag filled with tissue paper

Sometimes the simplest option is also the loveliest.

Choose a gift bag that's big enough for your plush toy, then layer in plenty of tissue paper to create a soft nest around your surprise. Tuck your new companion inside, leaving just enough hidden to build a little anticipation.

Finish with a ribbon on the handles, and it's ready to give.

2. Wrap it in fabric

Furoshiki, the traditional Japanese art of wrapping gifts in fabric, works beautifully for soft toys.

Lay out a square of lightweight fabric, place your plush toy in the centre and tie the corners into a neat bundle. The fabric hugs every curve naturally, making it ideal for gifts that don't quite fit inside a box.

Even better, the wrapping becomes part of the gift and can be used again and again.

3. Create a bouquet

Wrapping paper still works, it just needs a slightly different approach.

Instead of trying to fold crisp corners around a cuddly shape, wrap the paper around the toy, secure the base, then gently gather the top and tie it with a ribbon.

The finished gift looks a little like a bouquet, with your plush companion nestled safely inside.

4. A keepsake drawstring bag

A cotton drawstring bag is a lovely option if you'd like something that can be used long after the wrapping has been opened.

Add a few sheets of tissue paper for extra softness, tie it closed with a ribbon and your gift is ready to travel home with its new owner.

Later, the bag can become somewhere to keep treasured toys, little collections or tiny adventures packed for the day ahead.

5. Let the gift become part of the story

Sometimes the wrapping is the adventure.

Instead of paper or ribbons, place your plush toy into a doll stroller, carrier or cosy crib and leave it ready to be discovered.

Perhaps they're waiting in the playroom, tucked beside the bed or sitting quietly with a handwritten welcome note.

From the very first moment, your gift becomes part of a story your child can step straight into.

The best gifts become lifelong companions

Every friend in Dinkum World arrives with their own name, personality and little story, ready to become part of yours.

Whether they're peeking out of a gift bag, wrapped in beautiful fabric or waiting to be discovered in a cosy stroller, the real magic begins the moment they're welcomed into the family.

Every cuddle, every adventure and every make-believe moment adds another chapter to a story that's completely unique.

Touch the rainbow over your Dinkum's heart, close your eyes and imagine where your new little companion will go first.

Find the perfect friend to unwrap, love and treasure.
